Contributor's comments: The term "fat" is also used in South East Queensland but is spelt "phat".
Contributor's comments: This is not an Australian regionalism - unless we allow NZ in as a state of the lucky country. The word (spelt phat) is common in that country (I heard it used ad nauseum while I was living in Christchurch), indeed almost now passe there.
Editor's comments: This is an Americanism recently adopted by youth in both Oz and NZ.
