Contributor's comments: Potato Fritter is the common term used in SA too. That is the term almost exclusively used.

Contributor's comments: In my younger days these were inveriably referred to in Adelaide as 'potato fritters' (which I think is much more descriptive). Occasionally now you see the term 'potato cake'. 'Scallops' are definitely seafood here.

Contributor's comments: When I was a schoolboy in Melbourne in the 1950s, we called them "fritters". When I came to Sydney in the 1960s the term "potato cake" was used
