Bundaberg snow
This is the name given to the fallout from the sugarcane fires that are common along the Qld coast. The ash floats on the breeze and settles into every nook and cranny in the house and garden. It is generally used in a derogatory sense. I am sure that different areas refer to the ash in different terms but never happily: The Bundaberg snow was particularly heavy last night and we had to spend ages cleaning it from the flyscreens.
