At boarding school in Geelong (Vic) in the 1950s and in the camps organised for the school cadet corps, a 'slushie' referred to a boy who was rostered to clear away and wash the dishes, etc., after a meal See slushies.

Contributor's comments: Slushie is an unskilled kitchen hand who usually does the washing up particularly pots and pans. Fairly wide use throughout Qld.

Contributor's comments: As a current student of Geelong Grammar School, the term slushie is still used today as the name of a student who is on duty to clean dishes, serve meals, wipe tables and sweep floors in the dining hall at school.
