Contributor's comments: In Adelaide, the words Facewasher and Flannel are commonly used. I have never seen nor heard the term 'Face Flannel' until I read it here tonight. In response to another contributor, I expect that manufacturers used to use different terms in different states, although there may be more standardisation now that management and purchasing for retail chains is more centralised.
Contributor's comments: We called it a 'face washer' in middle class Melbourne in the 60's. I never heard 'flannel'.
Contributor's comments: flannel is used in my family, my mother's family, who are poms, introduced it as the rest of my father's family called it a face washer and all of my Aussie friends called it that as well (from Brisbane)
