Contributor's comments: I live in Brisbane Queensland and I use this word for a rubber band as well. I've always lived in Brisbane and have never heard it anywhere else, altho I have not traveled much.

Contributor's comments: Heard this only in the army. Used to describe the elastic type of bands used to secure trouser hems tight against your boots.

Contributor's comments: Have heard this throughout the Perth regions, south west WA, north west WA and the Pilbara when I lived in each of these areas. Very common 'shortcut' word for an elastic band. Also abbreviated to a 'lacky' - as in "I'll put a lacky around the newspaper."

Contributor's comments: First time I heard Lackey Band used was when I moved to Perth in the early 1970's from Sydney, it was always a elastic band there.

Contributor's comments: As a West Aussie, I've often received blank looks from Victorians when saying 'lacky'.
