A schoolyard game played by girls in primary schools in Sydney during the 1960s. A long piece of sewing elastic would be knotted into a loop and held taut around the lower legs of two girls, standing a metre or two apart. The players would jump in and out to a rhythm, doing increasingly complicated crossovers etc. until they made a mistake.
