Contributor's comments: The XPT has been called the XPT for as long as they've been in service. At my local station, Fassifern, the station master will announce; " The Countrylink XPT is arriving on platform two".
Contributor's comments: The XPT is the official name for the express passenger train service throughout country NSW, given by the NSW State Rail Authority (or whatever name the SRA calls itself this week).
