derogatory name for speedo swimming costumes. When I grew up in Sydney's eastern suburbs, we all wore speedo swimming costumes. When I stayed with my cousins in Kenthurst and we went to the local pool, everyone wore shorts instead and called speedo costumes 'dipsticks' for obvious reasons.
Contributor's comments: Dipstick was used in 2 ways. 1) for someone not too bright or 2) a male who used a lot of vaseline or "spruso" goo on their hair giving them a very greasy oily looking appearance.
