Werribee trout
Slang for untreated faecal matter in the waters off ocean beaches (particularly off west coast Victoria): A surfer would say, "Looks like a few Werribee trout have escaped the trout farm (Werribee sewerage treatment farm)." Compare blind mullet, blind trout, Bondi cigar, Bondi shark, brown trout, King River prawn.
Contributor's comments: This expression is used primarily in Melbourne, Werribee being a western suburb of Melbourne and the site of the Board of Works sewerage treatment plant (or whatever its privatised equivalent is these days.
