hangers

1.  group of people around a place (e.g. Hungry Jacks) having no specific purpose for being there: Yeah all these hangers were outside and the were messing the place up and having car races.
2.  a high mark in Aussie Rules.

Contributor's comments: Taking a 'hanger' is the same as a high mark in football. eg: He took a hanger over Smith.

Contributor's comments: Often used by Football followers (Australian Rules) to describe a very good mark, whereby the player seemed to stay in the air for a long time in order to take the mark. That was a decent hanger or or he has taken a few hangers today. As opposed to a "spekky" which can apply to a wider range of marks.

Contributor's comments: Also a name for school yard testicles. As in he copped a cricket ball right in the hangers. I think named from their appearance in hot weather.
